I was invited along for a behind the scenes look into a venture from another one of the North East's individuals. This time, it was Joe Meagher, of Flat Caps Coffee. Joe has owned Flat Caps Coffee for a number of years and wishes to expand to be able to give what customers cannot get at the original due some restrictions, without breaking his brand's ethos. I had a chat with Joe about his ideas for an expansion and what it could do for Newcastle, and invite you to have a look at his Kickstarter where you can get involved but also receive some fantastic perks in return!
Recently, I was kindly invited to have a poke around The Ship, Eighton Banks after a recent redecoration and new Head Chef. A really promising rebrand, Chef Stuart Niven is looking to switch things up. He came to The Ship a couple of weeks ago and has great aspirations for turning the place into something really special. The decor is already beautiful; cosy, industrial and even botanical in parts. I couldn't help myself but to even include a picture of the bathroom sink! With a separate section for the possibility of formal dining, a fantastic outdoor space with plans for a new childrens' play area and marquee, Stuart's excitement began to rub off on me.
What better way to celebrate Galentine’s day than have my main gal, Heather, take over KathyAthy.com to tell you all about the fast-growing, female-dominated sport. A canny few years ago, a little roller rink opened up in our home town, we took to roller skating like ducks to water and Heather had an idea to start training for Roller Derby. I was originally up for it, but then developed an irrational fear of smashing my teeth and ‘gave up’. Heather persevered (which I admire) and has found an amazing hobby that she’s passionate about. See her talk about roller derby, it’s history, the rules, the quirks, why it’s fab (including the psychology behind it!) and how to get involved. Be sure to give her and her team some love!
Because that’s what bloggers do, right? Announcements?
So, after the Christmas and New Year period, it all gets a bit…’flat’, doesn’t it?
Well, not in Newcastle!
This post may seem quite daft, but if you think about it, twitter is a great resource that anybody can integrate into their lifestyle. So, without going on unnecessarily, here are some of the best North-East twitter accounts that you should follow: View Post
