#BLOGSTAURANTWEEK MONDAY: LANE 7

Ok, it’s here, #BlogstaurantWeek, I’m literally putting my money where my mouth is. I’ve got to start with something ‘propa canny’, otherwise you won’t come back and the result of Blogstaurant Week would just be me getting fat! (which is totally fine)

Lane 7 is the Boutique Bowling alley in Newcastle, all decked out in 1950’s style, the decor itself is such a winner, it puts a whole new twist on the experience. Rather than the “sticky” plastic (do you know what I mean?) bowling alleys in most towns and cities, Lane 7 is such a cool place to go.

As well as a game of bowling on one of their eight retro alleys (with retro balls!), you can really make a night of it with their extensive range of beers and spirits – they will even bring the cocktails to you while you’re playing! I went along with old workpal Lisa, it was a really good giggle and we blamed the cocktails for our bad performance.

After a game of bowling, we went for a wander round the venue as Lisa had never been to Lane 7 before. She was amazed by the Pool, Karaoke and Beer Pong facilities and saw that it really is a grand, alternative night out. After another sneaky cocktail from the upstairs bar, we headed back down to be sat for our meal.

THE MENU.

Lane 7 Restaurant Week

The best thing about restaurant week is that all of the menus are published online well before the actual event. I’ve found already with many of the venus I’m off too this week, my dates have all replied with something along the lines of: “NOM! I’ll have the …. with the …. followed by… and then…. for dessert!”. I went for the Salmon Pin Wheel to start, followed by the Mac N’ Blue. I’ve been craving stinky cheeses since Christmas ended, but will refuse to buy them at home and stink out my fridge. Lisa fancied the Smoked Lamb Belly and the Southern Fried Catfish, which I was SO glad about as I wanted to try them too!

The food was really high standard, no plastic hotdogs or burgers here! Lisa’s partner agreed from visual reference via the medium of text message, and he’s a chef! One qualm I do have with Lane 7 though is their use of school dinner trays and Kilner Jars instead of plates and bowls, but I’m part of the #WeWantPlatesMovement, did they not have plates in the 1950s? We exactly split the two starters to get the best of both worlds. The Catfish was to die for, the peas underneath too, mixed with a little chilli and a little mint, it was really light. The Mac n’ Blue was gorgeous but incredibly rich, I thought I was going to give up at one point, but no I am a fighter. Worried if I’m going to have room for the next 6 days though!

Be sure to check out Lane7’s valentines day deal, or I guess it’s the end of your relationship.

THE OUTFIT.

I had to keep it super casual, because bowling, wearing a pretty dress while chucking a bowling ball down the alley cannot be an attractive sight.

Lane 7 is great isn’t it, you can spend the whole night there. Their Oreo milkshakes are good too.

Did you know the logo reads the same upside down! I also wonder why there is 8 lanes at lane 7 ha
Lovely outfit 🙂 as sad as this sounds, are you stood in Ochre yards?

      hahahahahah that is creepy!

And I never knew about Lane 7 being upside down, but the 8-lanes phenomena did cross my mind when I was there yesterday!

Haha in July my brother is moving into the new block that is being built. Don’t ask me how I recognised the pavement! We’ve been back and forth to the show house recently so that might be why haha

Hahaha very observant! I think I might have spoken to him on Twitter not so long ago actually. Unless I was speaking to somebody else who is moving into the new build in July…

I also asked Lane7 why they’re called Lane 7 today, retweeted their answer – it’s interesting!
