Having a little wander around my local village on a little date with my Mam, we popped into Corks Out for a cheeky vino and have a look at their new heated outdoor terrace. Corks Out has been part of the village for years and can be quite deceiving when walking past. It may look like a small, independent wine merchant, however it’s now got a bar, kitchen and heated terrace at the back providing a really chilled (well, heated) atmosphere and there are now six stores across the North West.
The terrace is nice and warm under the heat lamps where you can cosy up in the blankets provided to start feeling festive, and the roof will retract in the summer, perfect for a summer cocktail.
My Mam treated herself to a lovely glass of Bollinger (because Christmas) and treated me to a taste card. The taste card means you can use any of the Onomastic “Wine Juke Boxes” and help yourself to a taste of any of the wines that you may not usually have, a small or large glass.
*Apologies for the bad photo and frothage, its hard to operate and photograph at the same time!
For my North East readers, you will find something similar in the new food hall at Fenwick, Newcastle.
As much as I’m sure Corks Out are experts when it comes to complimenting wine with various meals and cheeses, I’ve been craving camembert for ages but I didn’t want to buy any and stink my fridge out. We had the most amazing camembert with fresh, warm bread and spiced cranberries on the side. Christmas has started.
I’m interested in trying their “Merry Manhattan”, available from the bar. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to pop in later this week!
